Shared Living Host – Independent Contractor

About the Role The Shared Living Host partners with RHD’s Shared Living Program to provide a welcoming, supportive home for a 42-year-old physically active male with a developmental disability. As a host, you open your home to the individual and offer support that promotes independence, personal growth, and meaningful engagement in daily life. RHD is committed to delivering person-centered services that respect each individual’s preferences, autonomy, and goals.
This is a live-in independent contractor position, where you, your household, and the individual form a shared living arrangement built on respect, companionship, and community inclusion.

Responsibilities/Duties:
- Welcome the individual into your home as a member of your household.
- Provide companionship, mentorship, and positive role modeling.
- Offer support and assistance in areas such as:
- Personal hygiene.
- Medication administration.
- Transportation.
- Budgeting and managing finances.
- Meal planning and preparation.
- Housekeeping tasks to ensure a safe and comfortable living environment.
- Household budgeting and basic money management.
- Support the individual in pursuing personal interests, skills, and goals.
- Complete required documentation in accordance with RHD policies.
- Coordinate, schedule, and attend medical appointments as needed, ensuring health concerns or changes are communicated to physicians and RHD.
- Respect and honor the individual’s choices and preferences as outlined in their Individual Support Plan (ISP).
- Implement behavior support strategies according to the individual's Behavior Support Plan, when applicable.
- Supports individual and structure weekly daytime activities.
Required Experience:
- Experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities is helpful, but not required.
- RHD provides comprehensive training and ongoing support for all hosts.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Reliable vehicle with current auto insurance.
- Successful background check (no felony convictions; some misdemeanors may disqualify).
- Completion of all required RHD training.
