Registered Nurse (RN)- New Program Opening!
Position Purpose
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for overseeing and coordinating medical care for individuals receiving services through RHD. The RN monitors health status, administers medications, supports treatment planning, and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to promote recovery, stability, and overall wellness.
This role supports residents through clinical monitoring, medication management, education, and coordination of medical and behavioral health services while ensuring compliance with regulatory and organizational standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Care:
- Conduct daily mental status assessments for 6–12 residents.
- Identify early signs of psychiatric relapse, medication side effects, or medical concerns.
- Maintain accurate and detailed nursing documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Document progress toward treatment plan goals.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support individualized recovery plans.
- Respond to psychiatric and medical emergencies when needed.
Medication & Health Management:
- Administer medications using the electronic medication administration record (eMAR).
- Complete narcotic counts at the beginning and end of shifts.
- Monitor medication administration and observe residents for side effects or reactions.
- Ensure prescriptions remain current and coordinate with physicians as needed.
- Coordinate medical care with psychiatrists, primary care physicians, and specialists.
- Assist residents with scheduling and attending medical appointments when necessary.
- Complete required nursing assessments and physical health screenings within regulatory timelines.
Education & Resident Support:
- Provide education to residents regarding medication management and health needs.
- Facilitate or participate in educational groups and program activities.
- Engage regularly with residents to monitor changes affecting treatment or recovery goals.
Program & Team Participation:
- Document resident contact and group activities as required.
- Participate in case consultations, staff meetings, and supervision.
- Attend required trainings and maintain compliance with licensing standards.
- Support program operations to ensure continuity of care.
Qualifications:
Education & Licensure:
- Current Pennsylvania RN.
- CPR and First Aid certification required.
- Valid Driver's License for a minimum of three years.
- Associates Degree in Nursing.
Experience:
- Behavioral health or criminal justice experience preferred.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong clinical assessment and documentation skills.
- Ability to respond effectively in crisis or emergency situations.
- Strong collaboration and communication with multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to educate residents about health and medication management.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift or move up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, and perform repetitive motions throughout the shift.
- Ability to reach, bend, kneel, crouch, or climb stairs when required.
