Certified Peer Specialist (CPS)

Philadelphia, PA | Full-Time

Position Summary:
Certified Peer Specialists (CPS) provide peer-based recovery support to Persons in Recovery (PIRs) involved with the criminal justice system. Using lived experience, CPS staff support recovery, wellness, community integration, and self-advocacy while modeling hope and resilience.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide peer support, advocacy, and recovery education.
  • Facilitate recovery-oriented groups (WRAP, support groups, community meetings)
  • Support development of coping skills, natural supports, and independent living skills.
  • Encourage engagement in treatment and recovery planning.
  • Complete required documentation in a timely manner.
  • Model wellness and recovery-focused behaviors.

Qualifications:
  • Certified Peer Specialist (CPS) Certification required.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 2+ years experience supporting individuals in mental health recovery.
  • Ability to maintain 18 annual training credits.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.
  • Standing, walking, bending, reaching, and repetitive motion required.
